Accentuating hiscelebrated career with the Grammy-winning group dc talk, Kevin Michael "Toby" McKeehan (TobyMac) made his solo bow in 2001 with the Grammy-nominated album, Momentum. Earning rave reviews from Billboard to CCM Magazine, it debuted atop the Billboard Heatseekers chart, sold over 400,000 copies, garnered five Dove Awards, and landed two number one singles, “Extreme Days” and “Somebody's Watching Me.” The remix album, Re: Mix Momentum, saw light in 2003, and in 2004 McKeehan released Welcome to Diverse City. The album landed him a Dove Award for Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year and its own album-length remix, Renovating->Diverse City, came in August 2005. His third studio album, Portable Sounds, released in 2007 and debuted at #10 on the Billboard 200, selling 51,000 copies in its first week. The DC-born artist has won several Dove Awards, including Producer of the Year, two BMI honors as Christian Songwriter of the Year, and several honors including being named one of Christian Radio Weekly's 50 Most Influential People Today, and one of Christianity Today's Top 50 Evangelical Leaders of This Generation. “My style is diversity, it always has been," says TobyMac. “It's about taking hip-hop and injecting pop melodies and guitars and harmonicas and whatever else it takes to make the song fit the message I'm trying to communicate.”
